Learned German Geoscience Societies

Below is a list of learned German societies and professional associations broadly related to the geosciences. Some have an ‘official’ English title, others don’t, in which case I’ve given my best rendering. Some of the English-language titles may grate slightly on the ear: that’s because they were devised without native-speaker input, as is common in Germany (and in fact in many other European countries). Some have English-language content, others may not, despite having an English-language title. One even has an English title only, although the vast majority of the content is in German. One site is notably absent (to me): that of the Geologische Vereinigung (Geological Union), which I assume is now defunct and subducted into the Deutsche Geologische Gesellschaft.
